I work in IT. Honestly, I learnt the most important things through experience. The only thing college did for me was get me a piece of paper that said I knew what I already knew. What a scam.

Honestly, the vast majority of college degrees are completely obsolete. Education has become a very lucrative commodity and profitable industry. Literally, anyone can get a degree, as long as they can find a way to pay for it and know how to google. One, they have gotten absurdly easy to get over the years. Two, they have become insanely more expensive over the years. Three, online study, the current rave, is truly a complete joke and the majority of the online programs I have explored have a complete lack of validity. In fact, I do not even interview anyone with a degree from an online university. The vast majority of careers in this modern economy are best served by technical and/or vocational education. Such a small percentage are well served by an academic degree, the majority of which would be useful only at a graduate level.

Let me tell you something your school is a degree factory school and I just laughed at a candidate who said they graduated from Western Governors University I told them thanks for their time. 😮Your degree os mot even worth the paper it is written on. Ever wonder why none of the Utah schools including Brigham Young, University of Utah, Utah State Webber State and University of Southern Utah want nothing to do with WGU?

For most people it is not. For me; I decided to transfer to ASU for the following reasons. Their courses are competency based and it’s very easy to pass. Pay tuition is affordable it is not worth it and I would not recommend western university with university of Phoenix

When I was in college one of my dorm friends was getting his BA in history. He came from a family of firefighters, dad, uncle, granddad etc. He told me when he finished college he was going back to Boston to become a firefighter. I asked if his career goal was to be a firefighter why was he getting a degree in history. He said, "I'm getting it for me."

An old saying from a Greek or Roman philosopher once said: "When you find what you love to do, and it meets a need in society, that is your profession." I have worked as: a golf teaching professional, a piano teacher, a Bible teacher, also a Certified Professional Security officer......plus a few more.....!! I prefer to work for myself . I have taken a few jobs in retail, but that tires me out too much. It includes: - Translation, which happens every day for many reasons (travel, literature, business, trade, media). - Interpretation, which occurs at both small and large events (business, politics, and science). - Audiovisual translation, such as translation for dubbing, subtitles, and even audio description for blind. - Quantitative linguistics, which is used in AI, Google Translate, etc. - Neurolinguistics, which studies diseases like dyslexia or aphasia. - Pedagogy and teaching methodology for language learners. The list goes on. So it's never useless unless you don't know how to apply your knowledge.

SHANE I used to do arise platform and worked under the client Home Depot making 15 an hour I made 40k in a year we were allowed to work more than 40 hours a week they got sued for not providing 40 hours to work just so you know
